Join us January 28th, 2023 for the 8th annual ALL THE WAY TO THE BORDER clean-up! Meet at 9:30 at the Robles Junction Community Center (16150 W. Ajo Highway) in Three Points for another year of trashy hijinks and fun in the great outdoors. We’ll pick up trash all along beautiful Highway 286 — the only Adopt-a-Highway event to clean an entire highway! We’ll have a brief safety meeting and enjoy hot coffee and snacks and learn who is awarded the much-coveted “Golden Grabber” awards this year. We’ll also enjoy displays from local organizations where you can learn more about the Altar Valley Conservation Alliance, Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge and have a chance to adopt your very own mile of highway.
We will have water available but please bring your own containers. Also sturdy shoes, sun and wind protection and gloves.
Highway 286 runs through Buenos Aires National Wildlife refuge so plan to look for winter raptors, pronghorn, Coues and whitetail deer and other wildlife. Trash along the roadway is not only unsightly, but dangerous for these creatures and our clean-up benefits all the residents of the Altar Valley.
Sponsors include Rancho Sierra Vista de Sasabe, Trico Electric Cooperative, Arizona Dept. of Transportation and the Adopt-a-Highway program, Park Smith Law, and the Altar Valley Conservation Alliance.
