David Seibert was awarded the 2011 Altar Valley Research Fellowship at the Alliance’s May Community Meeting. The Fellowship is designed to attract and support scientific research in the Altar Valley. David’s project is entitled “Collaborative Conservation through Erosion Control and Fire in Altar Valley.” The primary goal of his project is to develop a suite of practices for conducting concurrent prescribed fire and erosion control planning, execution, and monitoring that coordinates the needs of valley landowners with the efforts of Alliance partners such as Pima County, The Nature Conservancy, and Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. Take a look at our Science page to learn more about research and science in the valley and to find out how to apply for 2012!
